Yeah, the phantom... sigh...
I know why you want/need one - too expensive for me anyway. But really niiice! Even the design is outstanding.
I'm just waiting for the release of the Eye One Xtreme (together with the X2 cam and the One Link module) and am just deciding whether to buy a custom made, hyper-powered 355 Armattan or a decent, even as devilish Warthox.....
these will be then my last quads for a long time (fingers crossed).
If they ain't be so da**n addictive.

That is a cool looking quad. Makes me think of Star Trek for some reason.

Myself I'm going all-in with the Armattans. The first one was great until I lost it... the next 2 are en-route and should arrive any day now!

Thanks for the "is it an "A" or a "B" motor" verification, skyeblu.

Yes but, if the "A" motor runs clockwise, that's the motor we need to try first.
The motor leads will need changing over on the "B" motor for clockwise rotation.

The cyclic authority is totally awesome, and into the wind I had to use
most of the cyclic to keep the nose down, but flying with a tail wind
it's a rocket.
.
If your really moving at a good pace in FFF,,why dont you use aerodynamics to keep the nose down by lifting on the tail a bit with a horiz. fin with a different angle of attack (kinda like a Blackhawk and others).
take a thin strip of scrap poly. and servo tape it on the boom somewhere torwards the rear..
if it doesnt work, than just tear it off---no harm done
---this is a very very crude representation---its more of a thought..

I finally ordered a Turnigy balance charger, based on Rajah235's recommendation, and managed to complete my order with minimal damage. I picked up a few end links and spare servos, but resisted the temptation to get pick up some brushless parts and a 9x! On a sidenote, I had no idea HobbyKing shipping prices are so high. It's much more painless when they roll the shipping prices up with the parts so I can continue to feed the addiction in denial. Haha!

Do you know if there any difference between the Turnigy 9X and the Flystky TH9X or are they basically the same tx?

Based on what I could find, they're essentially the same hardware with different brands. Beyond that, I don't have information on the subtle differences the two might have. My choice between the two is based on price alone.

EDIT: More accurate information has since been provided HERE. Thanks mikefromgermany!

There is definitely wisdom in this statement, but perhaps there are 2 ways to approach the next level. I am learning fast that a std flybar cp heli is VERY different to flying a fp heli. The biggest difference is you have to fly the bird full time, it will not sit in one place for more than a second. Forward flight would probably take some of this out of the equation but hovering is a full time job working in 6 directions.

The other alternative that is taking over the cp scene is the flybarless head with either 6 or 3 axis gyro. The gyro works to keep the heli level or at least on the heading you began with. Different gyro's do different things but the 6 axis gyro from Walkera does look to be very stable.

So an fp bird is only giving you the basics if moving to the traditional cp, but perhaps is still worthy if you intend moving to the new generation of gyro controlled cp machines?

I have a 6 axis fbl cp on the way, so I can report back my findings in a couple of weeks.
