Build Log
Siren C-30 EDelweiss

Here is a slide show of my 2013-2014 built

a 1/3 scale Siren Edelweiss

This sailplane was in between the wood and glass era, full scale had hollow wings made of ply sheeting with couple ribs, fuse was also a lay up of plywood, very good performance for that time

Mine is made from an epoxy fuse and foam sheeted obeshe wings

Enjoy

Scratch built Siren C 30 Edelweiss (3 min 11 sec)

It's a gorgeous model Stéphane. Nice job !

This was taken from another thread. The lines of this sailplane makes it so nice in the air.

Well done

Very fine work, you have doone a lovely job on this one Stephane.
I'm sure you have found it a really rewarding experience.
It looks about 5m and 1/3 scale? What weight did it come out at?

Thanks for the compliments,

Fuse have been a group build, without my friends nothing would have been possible, way too much work!

Allan, the weight of the model is the same than the Blanik to give a reference : 10Kg or 22Lbs and the wing area is the same too. Only wingspan is bigger 5m for the Edelweiss, 4.2m for the blanik, only aspect ratio differ

Asher, you will see it in person in a month ;-)

Charlescd. Do you even know what glider that is. I took that photo in 68-69 time frame it's not a C-30. It's a one of a kind.

You got my curiosity going and I went back to find the thread.

Sorry to everyone on this post. The picture above is a Grief 1B.

It had me fooled -- I was sure it was a C30.

Head hangs low as i do the walk of shame.

Charles, I was very lucky to be able to take photo's of this A/C It was in attendance during a glider christening. I didn't know it at the time how special it was. I have since sent all my photo's of it to the designer's son. The same man designed the FK-3, it was Otto Funk. The Grief 1B looked like a composite glider but in fact was made from alot of wood.

A little point of interest is the drag chute from an F-104 the the DAC told everyone they had to use. On launch you could really feel it move around.
