Long Island Hand Launch Classic Aug 7 and 8 in Syosset, NY - Team Qualifier!!

Guys,

On behalf of the Long Island Silent Flyers I am proud to annouce that LISF will be holding their annual hand launch contest, the Long Island Hand Launch Classic (A.K.A Chuck 'Em and Chase 'Em), on August 7 and August 8 at Stillwell Woods Park Preserve in Syosset, NY.

It will be 2 - one day contests. We have registered to be a team qualifier event. If you haven't qualified for the US F3K Team Selection contest, this will be a great place to do so!!

Registration opens at 8AM each day. Pilot's meeting will be at 8:45AM on Saturday and 8:30 AM on Sunday.

No round will begin after 4PM on Saturday and 2PM on Sunday.

Awards will be given to the top three Sportsman and Expert pilots. A Grand Champion award will be given to the top pilot with the greatest two day total.

It will be $17 per day, $30 for both.

We will offer a $5/day lunch consisting of 4ft+ Italian and American heroes along with macaroni and potato salad and cole slaw. Soda and water will be included with the $5 lunch fee all day. Special lunch requirements will be met upon request. Please inform us ASAP so we can accommodate you as best we can.

Details can be found at:
http://www.lisf.org/hand_launch_contest/

We will be competing at Stillwell Park Preserve located in beautiful Syosset, NY (on South Woods Rd). Directions can be found at our website. We fly off the nature preserve just behind the soccer and ball fields.

We have a 1200ft x 1800ft grass field surrounded by acres of trees. This field was the home of the 1999 F3J US Team competition so you know that if it is challenging for the big boys, it will be really great for us as well.

Come join a great bunch of guys for some fun and frivolity!!!

Sincerely,
Frank Nisita

The LISF guys have been toying with the idea to have some fun stuff on Friday.

Anyone up for it?

Idea were to do:
1.Carnival with limbo contest (upright and inverted), Balloon pop, F3B mini course, (ideas welcome)

2.Pro-Am

3. Mini contest. We could just have a 5-7 round contest on Friday but I was thinking just now to do something crazy. Why not take all the 10 min tasks and run the window always for ten minutes but YOU get to pick what task to do when! Each task is done once.
We can also just ahve a regular contest.

Also could order a couple of NEW YORK pizzas, heroes or whatever for dinner. We'll fly till either the heat, the bugs or the sun won't let us fly anymore.

Maybe we could get started around noon or so so that guys would not need to book a hotel for thursday night and could leave Friday morning or something.

My question is who would like to come out on Friday for some fun stuff? nothing is set in stone yet but for now I want to go back to the club with a level of interest.

Thanks

Frank

Anyone thinking of attending?

Novices are welcome and encouraged to attend. Concider this a weekend of free education from some of the best guys in F3K.

There is no charge for Novices to fly.

OK, I just checked who's coming and so far this is looking like an LISF club contest (Thanks Kevin by the way for stepping up -much appreciated).

What do I need to do to get you to come?

How's about a dunk tank with Ed and myself on the platform!!!

Here's another idea.

everyone is talking about teams and some of us were thinking, how cool if we could do an interclub competition.

Would anyone be interested if we come up with some format where the scores are summed up based on the club you belong to (in addition to the one on one we already do)?

We would just take the scores from all club members and compare the total to those of other clubs.

Maybe we could do just the top three from your club or something instead. this will remove some of the 'home field' advantage.

What do you think?

Hey, we need some Novice pilots at this contest. Novice fly free!

Grab your kids, grab those new HL pilots in your club. Stuff them in your trunk and don't let them out till you arrive at the field.

Also, we love to see lots of Sportsman pilots. These are the experts of tomorrow. Experts, please encourage a sportsman pilot to come to the contest. It will be the best flying skills development they will ever have.

I figure we can handle 50 pilots with ease, so there is plenty of room.

Look at the bright side. This way assuming the same people win both days at least you will likely have some local LISF guys get qualified for the F3K team selection...

Always an upside!
