Yes : snap ! lol it was around 2004/5 that he was getting ready to come back not only with this model but several 1/4 scale versions , but he was involved in an accident and nearly killed ! if that wasnt bad enough he lost his home and family at this time also domestically .Several modellors ordered models from him but never got them simply because he lost all records contact information and he ended up living on the streets. But rumour has it that he's getting it together again hoping to trace the guys he let down and return their purchase money . He really is the expert on model hovercraft , Ive known him over 30 years but hes been at it since 1975 fullsize and scale , hes a very knowledgeable guy and would be great to see him back .

If you knew him for 30 years...
If you knew it was in 2004/2005...
If you knew he never went to market...
If you knew the entire story...


Why did you tried to make us believe:

It was in the 1990"s instead of 2004 ?
They have been marketed ?

Why did people tried to make us believe in things that never happened or, if so, just happened 20 years after???


I am sorry to know that Peter had all those accidents and troubles, I really am. Anyway, I just know that rc hovercraft from him and he never revealed at least one single movie of it...
Not enough to consider him as "The"...
Since 1991 I did some dozens of them and I shared videos and other proofs to the public, making history that you can try to ignore but, not change nor erase!

But your mistaken ! that hovercraft came out first bout 1993 thereabouts, nobody is trying to make you believe anything and at that time he was the considered expert ! sorry if i ruffled your feathers you may be the self proclaimed expert cos of all the models you have built and shown and well you deserve it but this particular model goes all the way back to 1991and yes there was a video of it sadly thats been lost like everything else, but no doubt if he comes back and whatever he comes back with will probebly raise a few eyebrows , enough said , give the man the respect he deserves but one more thing i would like to add ! that particular hovercraft actually flew across the Goodwin Sands 5 miles out in the English Channel down the ramp of an SrN4 super 4 and onto the sands no other model to my mind has done that before or since.
You deserve all the credit for what you have done over the years nobody can take that from you !

First, I am not the " self proclaimed" anything, I just said that none can be it by just having done a single model and not even shared its self proclaimed achievments.

I am sure that you will show us some reliable proof of what you are proclaiming. Without proofs, you can just talk!

Even Peter himself during 2004 when he showned this craft photos and both of us and some others had some discussions, claimed that the craft was supposed to be that old and not a 2004 model!

I can tell you that the only thing that happened in April 1991 (related to Peter C.), in a Model Magazine, was an advertisement stating that a model of a Boeing jetfoil was due to be available soon...never happened!

The author himself (Peter C.) said later that would be available in the 2003 Spring. Also nener happened.

By the way, all the other models planned to be sold, were not 1/4 scale.

This Topic is meant to discover Two (2 things) :
- Hovercraft in the 80`s
AND
-Using a Byron ducted fan

Once we all can see (by the better photo I posted of Peter`s hovercraft ) that he was not using a Byron ducted fan (and, of course he never claimed for that), even if I used a ducted fan back in 2004, it was not a Byron one!
So, untill someone proofs the opposite, I WAS the first using a Byron Ducted fan in a RC Hovercraft, as I did show here in this forum, back in 2011)

Second thing; Bob, I am giving the man, the respect he deserves. I Knew a lot of "bad things" about him that I DID NOT revealed here, YOU REVE$ALED SOME of those referring to the past...

For me, this thread is closeed, completely out and off-topic!

If you want, make a new discussion topic, about anything you want, referring to the history of RC Model Racing Hovercraft. I will reply, if needed.

I dont need to talk about a man thats not here to defend himself ! nor will I discuss his life apart from what i have already told you ! and as for jetfoil moulding yes it exists along with a Phm moulding, a large scale srn2 and srn4 CC7, and SAR 470 along with 8 other mouldings related to hovercraft and hydrofoils take my word those mouldings exist ! we best leave it there and all the respect due to your goodself let him prove himself when he returns !

I am still wayting for, not only Peter but, anyone else from all around the World, to show us ...something...reliable (and with solid proofs)...better than what I`ve been doing and prooving for the past 21 years!

Sorry this thread has seemed to cause so much trouble. All I wanted to know was more information about a hover craft that used a Bryon fan unit. It was long and I think the name was Galaxy. I believe in was advertized in RCU magazine. If anyone comes across this information please PM me.

OK, I have reopened this thread due to some informations that was kindly given to me. From this I have found the hovercraft in question. The magazine article was actually in MAN NOV 1984, so I at least had the right year but not the magazine. To prove this I am going to post the article that another person was kind enough to give me. If anyone has one of these can you please contact me. Thank you.

Congratulations Ralph, for having found your lost article.

No doubt it was in fact a Byron fan, also surprising for that time (1984) are the referrences to nicad batteries and cyanoacrilate glue, too advanced tech.

Gx14 Graupner Ducks with rider.

Hey just found this tread. I still have a copy of that magazine.The Gx14 inspired me to make an electric version of the craft a year later. A new brushless Lipo version would be great. As for articulated riders on hovercraft I put the leaning rider from a Kyosho electric motor bike on my Graupner Ducks Hovercraft. I used a separate servo on a Y lead from the rudder. That was some time in the 1990s when I worked for a local hobby shop.
I wish is still had that Hovercraft. In fact the Ducks was my first RC model and Ive been toying with the idea of scratch building one for laughs.

Never saw one other than the story in the magazine.
I remember at the time $250.00 US represented about $500 Australian dollars the Byron fan radio and suitable high performance engine would have taken the price to well over $1000, a couple of weeks wages at the time. I doubt many came to Australia at all. If one turns up ill post it here and or try and buy it.

Now that I think of it the Axon Razorback http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...3#post10375368 had a similar layout. I'm tempted to build a scaled up version with a large ducted fan. The Axon is 14" long so maybe something 30"~ (760mm) would give enough area to support a 90mm fan,http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...watt_10s_.html. It would still be light and would be very quick. Hovercraft benefit from a larger size so I think this would perform well.
