Yes, but you'd be doing a huge disservice to not have CP on the transmitter side. You will notice your video is significantly worse.

Any good sugestions to mounting the 5 inch long cabled antenna? It was really stiff cable, then it would act just like a whip but...

I've flown with whip or V on the Tx and CP antennas on the Rx (SPW and Helical) and
it's just fine.

you actually lose 3dbi in gain if you mix linear and cp... Use either all linear or all cp (same direction)

The polarization loss isn't the problem. It's the combination of different design strategies. You wouldn't go putting a truck tires on your sports car would you? Will it work? Sure.

There is an easy solution: Shorten or stiffen the cable. Use fuel line to stiffen it.

My friend had his helical circularized patch antenna on to watch my flight and sawdegradation at 3 miles out while my video was perfectly fine (dipole and patch antenna)

So, how do you stiffen or shorten the cable? These are from True RC

Use fuel line to stiffen it.
You can't shorten it unless you have a crimper.
