Nice, which servos are you using?

they are hyperions HV standard size..... I am thinking now that the jitters I am seeing are related to the servos.

I know gary and askman have been trying out some $100 a piece MKS servos.... so I might just have to get some and try them out!

I sold my D5100 and have a Sony Nex5n and the 16mm pancake lens on order.

Just looking for any advise on any camera settings with it attached to my hexacopter.
I don't have a gimbal YET, but am just going to make a mount and build some legs for the F550

I never really learned to shoot in manual very well with the D5100 and was mostly on auto. Just some basic photo and video settings would be great.

nope, it is direct drive..... to me that means it will be great for stills and not usable for video.

but that is just my experience with direct drive gimbals.

Sigma has released a 19mm and a 30mm prime with Sony E-mount at pretty reasonable prices.

I just ordered the 19mm to give it a test ride . We used to shoot at this focal length all the time with my Nikon D40X and I liked it a lot.

Users are stating that it is much sharper in the corners than the 16mm Sony kit lens. We will see....I will post some shots when it shows up

I do not know, many of the high-end setups in this and other threads seem to be able to make very smooth, undistorted and pleasant videos, but the video resolution does not seem to be equally proportional to the increased cost of the equipment, at least as seen on Vimeo or YT. It is a bit puzzling to me but with several common and way cheaper action cameras the video resolution seems better in my opinion .... so why can they easily produce sharp online vids while the "reference" Next 5N often can not be better? I do not want to anger anyone but that's the question I have in my mind, sorry......

are you saying that gopro resolution is = to or > than Nex-5n resolution?

if so you are just wrong, the sensor size, low light ability and optic quality is much higher on the nex than a gorpo....

when someone edits, stabilizes and or adds filters to videos you may lose resolution....

so what exactly is your question.....

The question is the one on which you say that I am wrong.... however look for example at the last two videos on this thread, as I said they are very nice and pleasant videos, but the resolution seems to me to be lower than many 1080p vids from Gopro2, or Contour Roam, or RD32II users ...... Look at the distant features of the landscape in these two vids, they lack details that I am under the impression could be typically visible with the other cameras I mentioned. For example, at the beginning of the video the line of tall buildings behind the antique sailboats in the harbor. Or the line of trees at 0:23 in the cinestar video above (I wish I could get such smoothness in my vids!). They are quite a bit blurry. I am aware of the theoretical better quality based on the official specs, but I am saying that personally I have not seen it translated into practical results in terms of overall sharpness of the image. Maybe it is an issue of limited depth of focus of the Nex 5n lenses? You bring up low light ability but on that I have no opinion, my comment is based on a subjective comparison of videos taken under good light conditions.
