I use LiFe's in my JR10X's & used them when I had a 9303. There is a notation from JR that a LiPo can damage the internal circuity. Some use them....personally, I wouldn't.

This is one of those situations where you can probably get away with doing it but it's definitely risky. Why use LiPo when LiFe gives the correct voltage?

By the way, if you use anything other than NiCd or NiMH, don't forget to tape over the charge jack so you don't accidentally plug in a charger.

Don't do it! LiFe or low-discharge NiMh like here: http://www.alofthobbies.com/transmitter2100.html

Some guys like the LiFe batteries but the discharge curve on those batteries is so flat that by the time a volt meter tells you it needs charging, it's very nearly dead.

Those and the original A123's make great rx packs, but you fly them by time because of this consideration. Some guys do it by number of flights, I prefer to use the timer on the radio and I know what each model uses per minute and when to recharge.

This is why I don't think they make good tx batteries. I'd go with the Eneloop cells and several of the vendors will make those for you. They are a low self discharge NiMH battery and you can charge with your existing charger/setup.

The battery packs linked to by Warjet claim to be low self discharge but I have no experience with that vendor.

I dropped one of these in my 9303 about 2 years ago. Works perfectly and zero issues. Think I may charge it 3 or 4 times a year.

I've been using LiFe packs in my transmitter and receivers for close to 5 years and never had issues. My transmitter low battery alarm is set up for 3.15V per cell and I can get at least another 10 minutes after the alarm sounds - this is the maximum I've used it when the low battery alarm kicks in.

Normally I'd charge the transmitter pack when the battery voltage drops to or below 3.25V per cell.

Receiver LiFe packs get charged before a day of flying and I can get at least 10 flights of 12 minutes each or 7-8 flights at 15-18 minutes each.

Thanks Guys. I have a lot to chew on now. You have opened my eyes to some new ideas. I think it is time to get to know some different battery chemistry now.
Thank you again.
