Question
DX6i Range Check

Hi, all. Just a quick question because I could not find this information anywhere, not to save my life.

Does anybody know the attenuation factor for range check mode on the DX6i, or any other spektrum radio so I can get a ballpark estimate?
They say 90 feet is a good range check distance but there is no indication of how much full tx power distance you can expect from that. If I have an amplified rx in my plane and I can range check to say 150 feet, I have no clue how far away I can actually fly.

If it passes the recommended low power range test on the ground, with a full range RX, the plane should be able to fly out of sight before loosing reception.

If you are planning to do FPV at long distances, then you should do some research on that.

You won't find a published figure of how far you can fly. There are far to many variable for a manufacture to say its guaranteed to be in control at (insert distance here).
If it passes the standard 30 pace range check you will be able to fly it beyond LoS assuming your RX is genuine and installed properly.

If your going beyond LoS as in fpv, you shouldn't use 2.4 or make dang sure your RTH is functioning properly.

In a clean environment I would guess at least 1 mile though.

I've flown my planes till they were small specks in the sky and never had any problems. Any farther and I would not have been able to bring them back. I wouldn't worry about this distance out. You will loose sight of them before you loose control. I believe that of the micros as well. Being smaller, harder to see at distance. Kept a micro mustang directly above my head to test one day and it was unbelievable how high I got.

Yes, excellent. So then range check cuts the range by a factor of ~60, that's just the information I was looking for.
I am planning to do FPV around my local field, just wanted to know how far my radio range will be in comparison to the FPV video range. Very important to know which is longer.
