3/8" aluminum c channel arms ( open side up, no need to drill out for the motors and cables fit inside ) 10" long sandwiched between 1/8 birch plywood. Front arms are at 120 degrees apart and rear are at 90 degrees. MTM is between 17 and 19 inches so it's still real close to a traditional quad. 808 #16v2 with 120 lens up in front doesn't see much, if any props on its perch. Finished with a touch of spray paint, to give it some polish. Nice enough my wife though I bought the frame.

This is build number 4 in 3 weeks. Last one was good, but had this nasty habit of losing its mind and doing 360 flips into the ground so it had to be rebuilt and I was hankering for cleaning up my build. I have some cf plate and 10mm squares on order so maybe the next build will be a little less weight.

Did you use stacked layers, or are the arms a four walled box ( hollow square tubes ) construction?

I picked up another $1.99 piece of balsa wood at Hobby Lobby (the craft store - sadly there is no local hobby shop for me) and threw this together last night. It had balsa legs for about 10 seconds but they snapped off. These zip tie legs are more durable and provide shock absorption. The quad in my above post had an all up weight of 205 grams - this one is 175. The difference in weight is noticeable in vertical ascent and I gained about 45 seconds of flight time. A word of caution to anyone who wants to try this - it is far from crash proof. It it falls from the sky it will snap in half, but the electronics won't absorb as much of the impact, and the frame can be repaired or replaced at little expense.

I love watching these thing fly. Just ordered all the bits and pieces for my first build. I chose the KK2 board cause its basically plug and play and I truly suck when it comes to using a PC and the related software. Heck I'm doing good to check email or get into these forums. Ordered from HK. They say they have a 3 day service with UPS but I find that hard to believe. From China? Nah. Since thats the only place I've seen the stuff I want it has to do. Unless you guys know of a place here in the US with the KK2 and other parts.

what?! 3days from china is almost impossible. maybe you ordered from the usa warehouse? its like 2-3weeks for normal HK shipping

I'm pretty sure I used the global warehouse. Anyway it shows a UPS option. I have a question about tricopters. What is the wiring setup? Plug the three motors into the flight board but what about the servo? Does it plug in like another motor? Anyways thanks for the help guys.

yeah as you said. into another motor port.

So I just plug motors into M1, M2, M3, and servo into M4. That would be rudder port on the Rx? It'll be awhile before the parts get here so I have plenty of time to search for info and try to learn more. Thanks for the help sirbow2.
