Go to http://www.mbsmodelsupply.com, get 4 Sig 3" nylon bellcranks for $3, and throw the old Veco, Fox, and Perfect bellcranks in the junk bin where they belong.
The Fox bellcranks are the hardest aluminum bellcranks out there, and the leadout and pushrod holes will still wear out very quickly. If you plan to get more than about 50 flights out of a plane, use better hardware. |

Bill,
The method you used on the phenolic bellcrank should work on the Veco ones. I would STILL radius the aluminum a bit. Those old bellcranks were OK for older engines up to ~.35, and today would handle up to a modern .15, but I would not use them for anything larger. A lot depends on what you are flying and how many flights you expect to get out of that airplane. Also, modern thinking would say that a 3" bellcrank is minimal for many applications. That said, the SIG nylon you mentioned looks good and their 4" one should handle almost anything. Another option is to use solid leadouts with the old aluminum bellcranks. Of course these are only opinions, your choice. George |
