inverted flight

Will a stock ep concept with wood blades eh-83 do inverted sustained flight? These blades seem more semi-symmetrical than symmetrical. I dont want any unpleasant suprises. I know there isnt much reserve.

Nope, she just wont do it. It took a 12 turn RC car motor and symetrical carbon blades for my EP Concept to hover inverted. With the wood blades that are semis and a 16 turn motor, it could loop and roll well, but no sustained inverted. The carbon blades are less than $50 here:

You want MS 395s. Again, I used a 12 turn car motor and 8 cells. The EP Concepts arent really aerobatic at all. If you want great aerobatics, an ECO 8 is the best bet. The new Voyager is a sweet heli, but a little less aerobatic than the ECO....even still, the Voyager I like better! The EP Concept is just an outdated design from over 15 years ago!

It is possible, if you use a powerful motor and set tight gear ratio. It may be better to modify slightly the front edge of the EH83 areofoil because it may be roughly (plane-like) cut.

However, JRC wood symmetry rotor (25-30USD) is better for inverted flights. In fact, I always use it for 3D acro. It is available at RC shop Asami in Tokyo (Akihabara Town) linked from the link page of http://www.dokidoki.ne.jp/home2/tohrus/ .

Thank you gentleman!

I'm really leaning away from expensive/fragile rotor blades though. I had a concept 60 with nice blades - $160 per set - and it flew great. But usually in a crash the blades are the first to go . . .

I'm going to give it a try with the eh-83 blades . . . keep your fingers crossed . . .

By the way - if you had $250 to spend, would you use it to buy a brushless system for the ep or just get a eco-8 with the MM? What is better bang for the buck?
