Live F3F timing

Gents,

Tomorrow we will be hosting a round of the British F3F league in Scotland.

For a bit of a change, we will have live web updates of the scores - live as in at the end of each leg flown.

The website is now up and running, replaying results from a comp earlier in the year. I'll stop that tomorrow morning before I head for the hill (7:30 BST). I'd expect the comp will be running by 10am

Click hereto go direct to the page for the current round. This page is updated at the end of every leg flown. The current flight is shown highlighted with final time and points estimated until the run ends - so remember to press the refresh button frequently! The demo is going at a rate of 1 leg every second, so you should be able to see how it works before we start the live comp. Be sure to check out the hot links to see competitor and round summaries - also detailed leg by leg timings of every flight.

To make the website work, we have a laptop picking up results via USB from the timer. The laptop then accesses the internet via a USB tethered smart phone (HTC/Android) and sends the results back to the web server (actually a simple Windows 7 machine in my house). The f3f.kicks-ass.net url is provided free by dyndns.com. The results will be updated for as long as the laptop/phone combination's batteries last!

The weather forecast is looking excellent, so I hope we can make the gear perform.

David

Mind blowing

A few mind blowing stats from a truly amazing day.

We got through 189 flights (8 rounds) in just over 6 hours.

123 of those flights were sub 40s.
38 were sub 35s

In round 7, 8 out of 23 flights were sub 35s. That's 35%

After accounting for a single discard, winner Martin Newnham's slowest flight was 35.07s

FTD went to Simon Thornton with a 30.02

Amazing air, amazing venue and clear steady footage.
Love the epic pumps before a run.

Thanks David.

Excellent software!

I like how it shows full report stats of the race even down to each leg time. Heres the breakdown of the 31.66 i flew:
