No spare parts? I am thinking there are... (check over here, it's been discussed before.
Also, if you like it a lot, you could buy a spare.

Propeller could be anything. Are you swapping the motor?
If you run stock motor, you could add a cell and go to same size 2 blade.

Personally, I like the plane due to it's air presence. However, these days I prefer the balsa stuff.

Do you mean I can buy a used plane?

It's sold out at Hobbyking, but there's a couple of other places that sell it.

I am thinking about buying this plane, but was wondering how it compares to the FMS 1400 mm? I know it is bigger, but less money. How good are the electronics and retracts?

Stock retracts are garbage if you search this thread you will see that most of us have replaced them hobby king 514 or 716 size retracts.

I have been reading through this thread and I understand the retracts are junk. I will probably replace them with the ones that FMS uses for the P-51.

Does this plane have too much glare in the sun?

1400mm FMS planes have an all metal upgrade and it's the same size as the stock starmax ones. It's the legs that are crap on the new gear so that is what really needs to be swapped out.

Check out PW-RC for a full line of gear

What legs are crap? FMS or Starmaxx? What do I need as far as length of strut and what diameter? I would like to have good landing gear ready to put in before I get the plane. Otherwise I might not be able to resist the temptation to fly it with the lousy gear.

Starmax as least mine where on my grass field. They worked but they flexed too much.

I swapped out my Skyraider with a set that matched the same size much were built better and better rotating setup.

Well, this seems like a fairly dead thread...
But has anyone swapped out the rear retract unit and doors with one for the 1700 FMS P47? That pull-pull system is a pain.

Thanks McN! I remember you from the T28 or P51 forums! (both of which I try to fly regularly!) Small world, eh? Yea I had already looked over all the images in the thread, and searched for retracts, etc., just didn't see anything specific about using the 1700 fms rear unit in the back. I have already upgraded the mains with beefy oleos, but that darned pull-pull system in the back is a real pain. I went and ordered those fms parts, so I will see if I can do a retrofit when I get some time. Just hoping someone might have done it already.
Cheers!

Yep the T28 thread. Not many have had problems with the pull pull. Using a piece of wire and quick connects works best. Like this guy http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...&postcount=696 I think I also crossed the strings and reversed the servo, a little tip I found really helps. I know I did it on another plane but can't remember on this one. Once you get used to doing them its easy. Its already tail heavy so how much weight are your fms parts? Thats why the pull pull.
