Always enjoy seeing these beautiful yachts on the water. Looks like a pretty calm day - still better than sitting at home.

Thanks for the video. New for me - and am impressed how static the view is from "above". Are you getting live feed from the camera - or if not, how can you tell what you are filming?

Thanks for sharing. Dick

With a GoPro and a live feed to his smart phone attached to his transmitter.

Its got all sorts of stabilizing gimbals on it...really cool!!!!

Thanks - I will check this one out. Probably about the time I got it and felt comfortable flying it, the "feds" here in US will outlaw them!

So....

White sails are BORING..........

Having always disliked the plain white sails on the Yamaha (after seeing the originals tan coloured sails)..I have been on the lookout for anyway to change them. I contacted numerous sail-makers and got turned down/ignored...after reading numerous posts and websites that said you can't dye sails, I decided to say screw it and give it a try.

Well, success was my reward (more or less)

After convincing my friend Robert (BrushlesHeaven on the forum) to give me his original set of Tamiya sails to experiment on...here is the final result for my sails.

His main and jib came out perfectly, a bit darker than my main sail.

I did my sails in a second batch of dye that I mixed with slightly less dye as I used most on his batch.

Mine came out lighter...I wanted darker so the next day I tried to dye the sails again in hopes of achieving the darker colour.

I tried the jib alone and to my surprise, it came out a pale shade of green!!!!
Apparently tan coloured sail+ more tan dye= pale green!!!

Trying top fix the mess I made, I dyed the jib a using a grey dye....my thinking that grey is better looking than green. Well, to my surprise, the jib came out a light blue!!!

Apparently pale green sail+ grey dye=light blue!!!!!

I then decided to dye it black, which I thought would look good with the tan mainsail.

Apparently light blue sail+ black dye= dark blue sail!!!!!

So, I cut my losses and accepted the new blue jib colour...it actually looks pretty decent on the boat.

I found an original Tamiya jib on E-Bay so when it comes in, I'll try again starting with the white jib.

Anyway, here is the final result.....

I agree, the plain sails are boring! The color adds interest to the boat for sure. I have thought of making some new sails but haven't taken the time to shop for the colored ripstop or the other accessories needed to make them.
Need some inspiration to get going on that. Colorful sails make the visual aspect of sailing even better.
Good show mate!
