BTW, in case someone didn't already know, Bob is now the President of RCRC. Nice place to fly. Helis, quadcopters and even Ornithopters welcome!

I plan to be out there tomorrow afternoon as well as Sunday late morning/early afternoon.

Yes, I'm the noob club president. It's a great place to fly. We have been actively trying to change the place for the better. The glow-only-fixed-wing-only-cranky factor is pretty much gone now. We now have almost 160 members with an extremely diverse aircraft inventory. Whatever you fly, you're welcome here!

I flew yesterday at RCRC and had a great time. Lots of people flying yesterday but still felt comfortable with lots of open air.

Yeah...that was a great day. We had a steady stream of pilots and aircraft all day. I ended up staying until almost dark. Hopefully, I'll be able to get some more flying in this week after work. I'll post here and on the RCRC FB group if/when I'm going.

Church Annex on Whitesburg Drive

Can a person still fly something like a small quad or foamie at the Church Annex on Whitesburg Drive? Thanks

I flew there for years until they moved the school there. Between the school and all the little league football and soccer activity it was hard to ever get the field to myself where I felt safe.

Just be smart and mindful of your surroundings. Don't fly anywhere near people or traffic and you'll be fine. For all the years we flew there we never had any complaints and always cooperated with the facility.

Indoor Flying at St. Mary of the Visitation

I bought my 12 year old a Night Vapor and DX6i for Christmas and would like to know what we need to do to be able to fly at St. Mary of the Visitation on 12/28? That is, do we need to do anything besides show up?

Thanks,

Brian Palmer

As far as I know, just show up and fly. Please let us know here if something has changed. I've not been there for a long time, nor have I heard from the guys there in a while.

My son and I tried St. Mary of the Visitation tonight, 12/28/15, and there was no one there, and all of the doors were locked. Maybe they are on holiday, but the church schedule lists RC Flying on 12/28.
Is there an up-to-date list of indoor flying places around Madison/Huntsville/Redstone?

Thanks,
Brian

An old thread: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1348826 tells about past and present indoor flying places in/around Huntsville. Post #4 in this thread gives the info we have on St. Mary of the Visitation flying. Note that the flying is done in the Parish Center gym at 220 Lincoln St NE, Huntsville, AL 35801. Hope Brian did not go to the church itself.

My son and I made it to the St. Mary of the Visitation Parish Center (versus the church) tonight and had a great time flying his Night Vapor. There were lots of friendly people and plenty of space.
