HS-81MG Alternatives for Rudders / Elevators?
I've got some warbirds to put together that I need some HS-81 and HS-81MG alternatives for. I plan to use HS-81 alternatives on the ailerons and elevators, and HS-81MG alternatives for the rudders, single-servo elevator, steering, and retracts.
For the HS-81 alternatives, the one that's been recommended to me so far is the Turnigy TR-1660A servo. However, I'd like to know other alternatives. I know a lot of folks use TowerPro servos, but I'm not sure what they have that would be a good HS-81 replacement. Suggestions? Mainly looking for analog servos under $10.
For HS-81MG alternatives, I was wondering about these two: Corona DS-929MG and Hextronik MG-14. I'm not sure if I could program in servo slowdown on my X9303 with the digital servo (I know servo slow units only work on analog servos, but didn't know if the same was true for transmitter slowdown settings), so I'm leaning more towards the MG-14. Plus, it's cheaper and I'm on a budget.
I just sold a bunch of HS-81's for $12 each and HS-81MG's for $15 each to fund a bunch of HXT900 servos for my smaller warbirds. Now that I'm thinking maybe I should have held onto them ... not much out there I've been able to find that's a good match for much cheaper!
Any alternative suggestions greatly appreciated!

Hi I've used the tr-1660a, I bought 8 of them and have used
4 so far in my mulitplex skycat and they work great ,no problems
at all , centering seems fine, no jettering and price was right

Thanks for that info!
I just ordered 13 of the TR-1160A's as a HS-81 replacement, and 8 of the MG-14's as a HS-81MG replacement, so here's hoping they're up to snuff! I've read good things about both of them, so I'm optimistic. I passed on the Corona Digital 929MG's because A) I have no idea what I need to program a digital servo's endpoints, and B) I've heard they draw a good bit of current under normal load and get very warm, very fast.
Went with EMS shipping for an extra $5, so hopefully I ought to have them pretty quickly. I usually do regular airmail, but I've got a plane I want to get built before SEFF and time is running short!

Dave, have you tried the TR-1160A yet? (FYI, you said TR-1660A in the OP)
I asked about HS-81 alternatives too, here.
The Turnigy S3101S and 1160A both seem similar to HS-81's, but I'm hesitant to try them since a few reviews say they have large steps, don't center well, come inop, or strip, and say they aren't as strong as HXT-900's.
