Along with a one piece fuse

I finally got a useable part though the aesthetics around the wing area need to be adressed. Next layup I will lay a fg patch on the shoulders and then Mix some graphite in with some microfibers and fumed silica.

This go around I will just use microfibers and epoxy to wipe in the fillet. The Wing area is Rock solid using a 6" carbon sock in the lay-up.

Lay-up auw complete =44.8 grams

Tonight I am mounting the wing and removable servo tray.

Nice work, Doug! Looks like that laser cutter is being put to good use. I love the servo tray. The fuse is sexy too

it gives me the ability to use the same design in other similar size models and only having to modify the rails, also I wanted to add some side load strength to the fuse. oh yea, have to use my laser to make bling.

Hey wait a minute I've been working with advanced composites since 1971. How about using quartz cloth in lieu of cf. There should be no reception problem's. It was only $64 a yard back then of course that was when I could plug into a vaccume line anywhere in the plant and also had access to an autoclave, ah those were the day's.

Looks nice, and totally different than the last onepiece I thought you were working on. Any description or details on how you did the molds for this one?

Brian, The link here for this fuse.....

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1460997

The reason I went this route from my original molds I had modeled in Alibre was the expense. I did not want to have several thousand into a set of molds and still have to go thru the learning process of the actual trial and tribulations of non useable parts. ( so I bought a Laser cutter instead)This was my 6th fuse and I couldn't imagine having a expensive mold I could not even pull a part from due to inexperience.

Once I have mastered this technique, get some tail molds going, then I will look at revamping my original design to make it easier to work with, I will save my money again and hopefully have a clean design I can have machined.

This one piece is not my design but it is one of my favorites, only with a boom integrated.

I would like to thank the following people for all their support.....all the time.
ALL MY AZ Friends
Shaper Dave
Adam
Gavin
Tom
Kevin

And the rest of Rc groups support that follow.
