Should have the deck mould done over the weekend, then de flange, leave the plug in and mould the hull half (using the flange created on the deck) by next weekend.

I keep somewhat active on the scale boat stuff, building a 3 metre Oliver Hazard Perry (HMAS SYDNEY) at the moment.

Cheers

Guy I know has a (I'm fairly sure) NEU 1525 1Y 1577 Kv motor with an 8 mm shaft Would this be a good motor as a single for the hull, I would expect to run this on six cells, correct?

Have to double check the specs it may be a 1.5Y

Did you mean 1527 or 1525 Neu..................the 1527 will work on 6s2p.

The Kv is right, I cant recall whether its a 1525 or 21, its not a 1527. Would I be correct in thinking for sport and not out and out racing a single motor of this size would be OK? Say for 50 Kph or so

Cheers

The 1521/1Y is a 1577 kv motor Nick. I had one in my old Genesis cat a long time ago. Running 6s with a X640 prop it was producing speed in the mid 50's. (mph not kph)
It might be a little wimpy in power level as a single for a 42" cat though.

Cheers Bill,

I guess I suspected as much, I really would like to run twin but for the sake of simplicity this one will be essentially a first FE for me I'm probably better off with a single. However as I will have a mould this situation can change with the second one

I have no Idea how this will handle as well, It has been suggested by a petrol boater the design of the hull for RC may be a limiting factor in the speed that can be achieved. He explained that as the tunnel tapers from the front to the back it compresses the air providing lift but for the model this may be too much resulting in a boat that wants to flip once the critical speed is reached.

Guess I need to make a retraction on this statement made at the beginning of your thread. The 41" Falcon cat I built about 6 months later seems to really like the 2028 power level.

Hopefully when I get back to work on Monday the slushies will have finished the tooling gel and layup of the deck. Then I pull the temporary flange off and get the bottom prepared and waxed

Cheers

Progress

I'm ready to deflange the deck and prep the hull half for moulding, Just before I left I added a timber frame and glassed it to the mould to give a stable mould

Cheers

I don't know what kind of Aussie spider that is, but I know what kind it would be if it was on the floor and I had my boots on.
