F/A -18 XXL Hornet Pusher Jet
Since I have seen so many big pusher jets fly well I'll try to build a XXL Hornet based on JETSET's plan. I'm sure this is gonna take me the whole summer.
Wingspan: 1280mm / 50.4"
Overall length: 1950mm / 76.8"
I do not yet know, which motor setup I will use. I want to have an estimate on the total weight of the parts first. But I'm sure it's a pusher and not EDF.
I will mainly use 9mm Depron Sheets, which I have found around the corner. The bad thing is: One side is covered with white color already. I will have to sand it down to safe weight.

I will try to keep the plane as light as possible. No rudder, no retracts are planned. I will protect the bottom surface of the fuselage with 49g Glas and WBPU from damage. Most of the parts of the fuselage should be built in single 9 mm Depron. The wing must be removable to fit in my car and I want to start the plane out of my hand. I do also not have a plan to build an airfoiled wing. Maybe I'll do a KF2 wing. I have done this with my other birds as well. I believe this action plan will not lead in excessive work.
Well, this is the plan but I often change my plans during the built. Let's see how it ends.

No Load current: 1.6A @ 10v
Max current: 60A
Max Power: 1300W
Bolt holes: 25mm
Bolt thread: M3
Cell count: 5~7 Lipoly
Prop Test Data:
15x8 - 22.2v - 1256W - 56.6A
16x10 - 22.2V - 1885W - 84.9A
Using a 6S 4000 mAh Lipo which I already have. Depending on the total weight.

My target for today was to fix all parts together with tape. It seems that everything fits fine. Now I will make some studies regarding airfoil, KF2 or doing nothing. The e-flight 46 brushless which I originally bought for my Hangar-9 Toledo Special fits just right.
Total weight of my Depron parts (which are painted on one side with white colour) is 1.1kg.

Between painting my F5 and F15 I'm thinking about profiling the wing. Not sure I should stay with the KF2. Made some good experience with that but it does not look good in that big size. Have to generate some new ideas.

I guess you could profile the wing, Heres what Pajlotmato's build thread looks like.. I have one sitting on the shelf about 20% built .
and dont forget this one probably the first large f18..

Looking great, Wob! If you keep it light you do not need to profile the wing, it will fly just fine. But at the larger scales the flat wing doesn't look as scale. So you could profile it just to add some thinkness and make it more scale. More thickness would certainly help strengthen it, too. Just remember the real F/A-18 has a really thin wing, so don't add too much thickness.
