GWS Cub dihedral

Well, got my Cub out of the pine tree and back together.
Good thing I bought a spare IPS and a couple of xtra props.

I was wondering, can somebody tell me what it would do to the flying characteristics if I remove all the dihedral from the Cub to make it more scale in appearance?
Thanks in advance,
Bil

Unless you add ailerons it won't turn too well.

hmmm...
Good point turbojoe.
Do you think I could modify the wing to make it so?

Being an undercambered wing I'm not sure they'd be very effective. I've seen the cubs fly with rudder and they look to be pretty decent. Haven't seen any with any modifications. Good luck if you decide to try ailerons on it. Maybe they will work.

Wherndon,
I too wondered the same thing so i triied it, Putting ailerons the Cub that is but with not much success. They worked but it gave the plane an adverse yaw effect that I (not being much more than a beginner pilot) could not counter with the rudder thus making the Cub quite a handful to fly. I figuered it had to do with The undercamber of the wing so I covered it with Renolds plastic wrap but performance did not improve much.
Good luck if you try it. If you have success please post the details.

cub

i put ailerons on my cub and left the dihedrahl in the wing and have had no real problems.i made my own gear out of left over nyrod and some wire i had.the ailerons are made of 1/32 balsa and i used packing tape to secure them to the wing.they run the full lenght of the wing.i used a hitec micro servo. ive used this to train a couple friends and it works fine.let me know if you need anymore info.
