I've done now all the electric connections.
To control the machine I'm using an old PC (single core, 500MB ram), setup with Windows XP, which seems doing his job well.

It is now time to find a working solution for a strut.
Metal would be nice, but difficult to modify and I know I'm going to modify it a lot.
Wood will probably be less accurate, but more easy to align and easier to modify. On cost side it is at least 1/3 vs metal one, considering the offers I had.

So this is the solution I choose.

Finally : the machine mounted and aligned.
In the pictures are showed both configurations : milling and hot wire cutting.

Hi Stan,

the machine is similar to this one, but it seems they removed the model #1000 and start now from model #1200 (quiet more expensive).
It is a 4 axis for hot wire cutting and 3 axis for milling.

Very interesting, Ric...thanks! I already have a largish (8'x4'x2' (245cm x 122cm x 61cm) working volume) 3-axis CNC router and could probably add wire cutting capacity to it. I need to do some research with the manufacturer (Shopbot). Cheers, Stan
