Help!
Robbe Tigra motor

I need motor recommendations for a Robbe Tigra......Would like to use 4S , and or 5S batteries. its original recommendation is :


Specs: Type: Fiberglass/Balsa 12 cell Formula 1 pylon racer
Length: 46 inches
Wingspan: 53 inches
Wing Area: 460 square inches
Power System: Aveox V12 motor, 16x1700 nicad pack
Weight: 85 ounces on 16 cells. Roughly 77 ounces on the recommended 12 cell Nicad pack.
Wing Loading: 25 ounces/square foot as reviewed
absolute max power is not what I am going for.....fast , yes Just not insane.....lets just say hot sport flying

Presume you meant F12?

Effective Kv of a F12 is 700 rpm/V from the old Aveox specs I have, rated for around 70A. NiCds would be about 1V each under load. So a system that can handle over 70A and has Kv x V around 8400 (12cell) to 11200 (16cell) would be roughly equivalent.

Matching the 16 cell setup, at say 3.5V/cell loaded, Kv of 800 would be roughly equivalent for 4S, 640 for 5S and 533 for 6s .

In a 120oz Seagull Nemesis 46 I ran a Hyperion Zs 4025-10, Kv=505 on 6S with a 12 x 13 at around 65A. Kv x V = 10605. - that's a similar setup to a 16 cell F12, Definitely a hot sports model but not super fast (rather thick wing section). Something like that would be pretty brutal in a slipperier lighter F1 model.
