Is there a place where you can get a Yellow A/C 1/10th Scale F-18; the whole plane or just the shell.?

I am getting to the point where I need to start thinking about paint. I have been filling pinholes with primer and getting the surfaces as perfect as I can. I am strongly considering just using acrylics (craft paint) and using a 2 part clear to protect it. Or I may just use the enamel primer and lighten it up on the top...

$100 for two shades for klass kote, and the stuff to go with it, end up being 1 pint of paint total ARE THEY NUTS? What are they the BVM of paint?

Oh speaking of BVM someone basically gave me a bvm bandit composite kit from 1998, it has everything and every option. So that's up next!

I painted my F-18 with model masters enamels for plastic planes.
I clear coated with Future floor acrylic.

I did my maverick with model master enamels, put wanted a higher gloss clear so used U-Pol 1K clear.

I used Klass cote for my T-33, with their urethane gloss clear. I found that I wasted an awful lot of expensive paint because I mixed up too much 2 part paint before hand.

After having done all those my next plane will learn from what I liked and did not like

Here is what I would use next time:

Primer will be the Klass coat primer. Layed down really well and was great to sand.
Duplicoat high build is a close second

Base coat of white if needed, I found that the Krylon flat white works pretty well. Flat white works, gloss white does not coat very well.

Model master enamel for the color coat. Cost, color selection and ease of use.

U-pol clear if I want a high gloss clear for cost and ease use.
Future floor wax if I just want a semi-gloss

Just my preferences , you mileage may vary

Congrats on scoring the Bandit.

Any ideas on a flat clear kote? No matter how you cut it, klass kote is $100 or so for 1 pint of paint, weather it be paint, primer, or clear kote.

I figured if I get primer or clear atleast I can use it on another jet.

Krylon has a Matt clear that you may want to look at.
Just be careful spraying it on any decals. Run some tests first to see whats compatible and what's not.

Also consider a flat clear acrylic like a minwax spray

For some reason I don't have luck with acrylics as the top coat. Remember mine is turbine so I wonder if that is fuel proof? I found they get sticky in heat and stick to hard surfaces just a little bit even after drying for months.

If it is fuel proof, I am going to look into it. Do you have an example of things you have used the floor covering on?

Given I need a flat finish its not important if it is shiney so long as it is protective.

But for my bandit, I want that deep gloss look and so far only a 2 part clear seems to provide that.

The U-pol clear is every bit as deep and glossy as the Klass Kote 2 part urethane clear.

With any of these clears, will I run into issues using a water based acrylic as the color?

Future clear is not an issue, it cleans up with water.

Don't know about the U-pol, that would require a test
