Custom E-Flite P-51b YS-110s Racer
So my buddy Jim and I are building us another race plane. We are using the E-Flite P-51b fuse as our base and working out from there...
First thing we noticed is how well built the tail feathers are, yet the vertical may have to be enlarged some so she tracks good at high speeds. We did find that the slots in the elevator halves for the hinges needed to be grooved back more so the hinge points were correct.
We are going to run the stock cowl however we are changing the mounting points as the canopy hatch will be glued and glassed to the fuse. So the hidden screws are out...
So after skinning the fuse it looks really nice I must say. Will look sweet all glassed up.
We started work on the firewall which will need a lot of reinforcement to hold the YS-110s. I may play around with some glass in between layers of ply, as I saw someone doing here on RCG.
The stock wing is too heavy and a little shy on the wing area for our rule set, so we are building a new sleek wing for her. The foam cores are cut out and about ready to be sheeted.
