Build Log
The plane that still needs a name

In my quest for making stuff go fast, I'm now going to build this thing. If it flies well enough, the plan is to make molds off of it and make a fully composite version of it. It has a span of 80cm and is 106cm long, and can fit a 40mm diameter inrunner in the back (it's a pusher). For testing it, I'll put a 1400kv 4082 inrunner in it, running on 6S or 8S (I'll use a 7x10 APC Sport prop). If it all works OK I'll go with a 12S setup with something like an HET 700-98 if the weight allows it.

Anyway, here are some pics :

Stratos...and let me say THAT is beautiful wood work. As a composite that will be awesome! Here is mine 54" span.

Scramjet?

Looks beautiful, a full scale version would definitely run scramjet engines ;-)

Thanks . Some progress, put the motor and ESC in and started with the balsa skin. I also 3D printed some stands which go from the flat surface of the table to certain points on the wing, to make sure it will be nice and straight when I build it.

Was looking closely at your pics are there any composite materials back in the motor mount area?

Scrambler is my submission

Seriously, I am so jealous of you guys that can 3D model like this. And 3D printed building jigs, awesome! I can build a lot of stuff and can 3D print, but I truly respect this kind of design work!

I want to convert my wing to E-power.... Screamin' Demon

At this point in the build, not yet. That will all come when it gets glassed, I'll add carbon reinforcement to the motor mount area.

Correct, it'll be bungee launched. I don't want my fingers anywhere near the prop on this thing :P

It starts to look a bit like a plane now, I filled in the top surface with depron and sanded it down. It makes a nice and smooth surface on which I'll glue the thin balsa sheeting.

I love this plane on first sight! Is there any way you would cut a 2nd kit? Or if you have complete plans, give me permission to have Manzano or like him cut a kit from the plans? Incredible design, outstanding execution of the build!

Time for an update, I got a lot done in the past two afternoons, all the balsa sheeting on the plane is done now, and I finished one rudder (minus the cutout for the flight controls). Took quite a bit of time to get the round corners etc done, but I'm happy with how it turned out.

Thanks! As discussed via pm, sure I can make a second kit.
