Let's try this again! -- Racing revival, eastern Colorado, Saturday Aug. 23, 2014

OK, this is a repeat of the event we were supposed to do in May but got rained out (actually hailed out, 'cause it's eastern Colorado). The original announcement is at http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2166510 . A modified flyer is attached.

We'll have 3 classes of competition:

1. Club 40 / sport (Sky Raiders, etc.) -- Any engine up to a .46, no tuned mufflers, APC 9" x 6" prop, 15% fuel. If you don't have a Sky Raider, use any reasonable trainer or sport model.

2. Quickie 500 -- AMA 424 and/or 426, depending on turnout. We will not run the "fast" (AMA 426) and "slow" (AMA 424, Thunder Tiger Pro .40 engines) against each other. We may allow the older tuned-muffler engines from AMA 428 to mix in with the "fast" class if that's all you have. But be prepared to endure some razzing if you don't beat all, and we mean all, of the regulation AMA 426 entries with it!

3. EF1 / open electric -- Again, bring what you have; the goal here is to get everybody on the race course. We are privileged to have 600 feet of high-quality Petro-Mat, room to set up a regulation course in either direction, and plenty of experienced pilots to coach & advise newcomers. Strykers, T-28s, Gunfighters are all welcome.

A $20 landing fee covers any & all racing you want to do. Also, please bring your own lunch, plenty of water, and sunscreen. This event is not AMA sanctioned but will be run in accordance with the AMA Safety Code; a current and valid AMA card (or on-site AMA application and fee payment) is required for all flying, whether competing or not.

Thanks for your interest! Let's have fun!

Cheers,

Duane Gall

Am I reading that right Duane? Foamies and stykers on the same course, in the same race as the EF-1 planes?

Only if we don't have enough entries for a separate matrix of each ... but yes, that's possible. Could be fun to watch, eh?

It happened! No Strykers showed up, but we had some fast, close EF1. Video courtesy of Kurt Bozarth:

WELL DONE!

The video was awesome. Hopefully, you spark some additional interest. In any case it looks like everyone had a blast. And that is truly most important!
