Has anyone thought of converting the Invictus to IC?

I have a NGH 9cc gasser laying around and it needs a home. My Invictus has no motor right now (I burnt up the old one) and I want to get flying again.

The NGH puts out less power than a glow .40, somewhere is the .35 range. I think it is do-able.

Someone did that to a few pages back I think. If it's what you want to do then go for it

For those who don't get the HobbyKing emails thought I'd mention that the Invictus is $20.00 off at the moment:

Their motor is also on sale:

In stock in both warehouses.

balance

Hi
I couldnít find if you balance the Invictus inverted, which is the correct way.?????
I put the servos in the back so I donít need to add any weight.
Thankyou for the great forum and I am hoping for a maiden on Saturday.
Regards Paul

I usually balance mine upright, but either way, the CG should be exactly the same. Just be sure that you balance it at the point the manual says. I have built three of them and they all fly nice. -- Milt

You might be able to shave off a few ounces by removing some of the trailing edge of the cowl, trimming the excess fiberglass from the bottom of the canopy and adding lightening holes to the wood under the back of the canopy.

Ideally an EF1 airplane weighs 3 lbs 8 oz. Much over that and it's hard to compete.

If you're not racing then I wouldn't worry about it :-)

It's all in how you fly a fat lady not how much she weighs!
