Basketcase? You know, I still think about he and boomer... and Keith a lot.
I'm glad Father Moth is smiling.

They all come to mind now and then to me as well, Buzz. Boomer was a real mentor to me and many others when getting into electric flight and a real go-to guy, Basketcase was the innovator with fantastic ideas and flying skils, and Keith was a real gentleman always ready to assist and help. A great trio who are sadly missed...

We had quite a group way back then. I also forgot to mention Boomer's wife.
She spent a LOT of time behind a video camera! Boomer and I became very close after Jackie died. We emailed each other every day while he was in Hospice. His son really went out of his way to get a computer in there so we could email him. We continued that until the day he passed away. I remember spending hours on the phone with Keith during the World Tiger Moth Tour.... trying to figure out where the plane should go next. I have no words to describe Basketcase... he was my friend and mentor... I always planned to go fly with him... but I waited too long. Makes you wonder what he would think of the "new" tigermoth.

On another note.... what the heck happened to Kitty? I haven't seen her on here for a long time. She's another one that was so dedicated to the TM.

I trust she's up to something, perhaps a new plane or two, not that any other airframe could compete with her TM! Her artwork was (is) second-to-none and I hope she has simply moved on to a new "flying canvas".

She told me that a friend crashed her..."Lil Fishy" Moth that had all the cool drawings on it. I believe she said she repaired it. She's definitely an artist.

I do vaguely remember a serious re-build being required on "Lil Fishy". I wish to believe she's not given up flying, just into another design upon which she'll do her artful magic and blowout the graphics and art work on it that for me would make it a hangar queen - but she'll fly it!

Upgraded the motor with one from hobby king for the 3d hawk. 2s 360 lipo, will accept a 8x4 prop but flew it on a 5x5 Wow, the prop thrust threw the tail is neat. almost vertical power - need to prop up now.

yes, was going to keep it with the little ips but it really is way more fun with a brushless.

I used the motor, esc from this. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=11339

Ok, who's going to explain this? Actually, the idea with the original Pico TM was to see how slow you could get it to fly. That added to the realism of flying a real Moth. Our forefathers in this thread taught us to respect the fact that the kit flew like the real plane. They also passed along a dreaded dislike for anyone flying the TM without a cowling.

I have one that is a rocket... but it was designed for that.... My other moths still fly on an IPS... I don't see a picture of the "Super Moth"... I'll have to find one and post it. If you want speed out of a Biplane this is it.

It would be even faster if I eliminated the top wing... but then it wouldn't be a Tiger Moth.

I know, but it is just soo much too it when you fly it in 15 mph and that little ips won;t work. Geez I had a forced landing today and the wind tumbled it 4 times after I stopped! cracked my rudder and creased one side of the elevator.

With a 15 mph breeze I'd expect to back on to the runway with my TM (following a hand launch well up wind of the landing strip).

There are times when I fly into a gentle breeze and my TM stops moving forward and just hovers. I can go up, down, left and right....but not forward.
LOL....
