Is it an actual boat or just a computer image? Kind of look like what is used for Naviga style racing.

Hello,

Design almost done. Will soon proceed to CNC the prototype.

Intended for NAVIGA. Design also refer to the IMPBA and NAMBA monoplane requirement.

The pictures shown, to scale, the compartment height is sufficient for geared drive. Can use direct drive or electric too.

Hello,

Gear greatly reduce the rpm, hence reduce the propeller cavitation. Cavatation has several very undesirable effects. The one concern boat modeler is cavitation reduce the propulsion efficiency, energy consumed but not to propel the boat.

Geared drive is popular in Hong Kong.

Gear reduction are used a lot in Naviga FSR racing for 3.5cc and 7.5cc engines as they are not run the way we do here (oval racing)with NAMBA and IMPBA. The Naviga circuit involve left and right turn (a bit like the NAMBA offshore circuit) so its more a matter of acceleration. They are run for a fairly long fixed time and they count the number of laps, so their boats are heavier with a big fuel tank. Here is an example, the straigth away is 100 meters in the front lane.

Ahhhh, the course totally makes sense.

Those top speeds are much slower than a 7.5cc mono oval here, but you'd also never get a north american oval boat around that course at all.
