My new Column in Model Aviation

Most of you here on RCGroups know me for my Wicked EDF motors. However there is a complete other side of model aviation that most RCGroup users have no knowledge I am also involved with. I have been flying indoor rubber powered Free Flight duration models since I was about 12 years old (30 years ago). The models I typically build weigh in at less than one gram and can fly from 1 minutes to over 40 minutes on a rubber band. I am sure those who get their Model Aviation magazines have seen these type of models in the pages of the magazines before over the years.

I recently had an opportunity to take over the Indoor Free Flight Column as the last columnist was retiring. So this months issue of Model Aviation, April 2014, on page 132 and 133 is my first column

Those the ones covered with microfilm? When I was a kid back in the late 70's my buddy and I would go check them out flying inside Low Library. Very cool stuff.

That flight was just over 22 minutes. That video is taken during the climb.

How can it stay aloft that long without running out of room indoors and hitting a wall? Do you put in a bit of bend to make it fly in circles?
