450 Tail

From the very first time I built my 450 and had the tail backwards (I don't suggest anyone does that) I have had problems with it. Now one of the bearings are shot and I have decided to replace the whole thing. The original is EXI and that is an option. I am not very big on 2 week shipping from china. I would like to spend around 20$ ish. Any suggestions?

OH I guess I could have been more specific. 20$ might be kind of low but I am looking for the whole tail assembly like this link. With or without the chinese weight mod.

I picked up an align all metal tail (minus blade grips) for about $30 IIRC from the LHS, loving every spin of it

I wish my LHS didn't suck really bad. They have no Align products.

I'd go for the EXI tail in your link, since it will ship fairly quickly and at moderate cost, but also order a bunch of spare bearings from HC or wherever, they aren't great quality but they're so cheap you can change them out after 30 flights. I try to buy spares in advance and in bulk, and have no LHS worth using.

The problem with the clone V2 tails is they have a high failure rate. There are so many holes drilled and tapped around the case that there just isn't enough structure left. Just yesterday someone on Helifreak said he bought 3 at $20 each and they all broke. I don't think it's just a clone thing either, the actual design is bad IMO. It's probably the reason Align totally redesigned the tail for the sport. Yes, I've read posts about the Align V2 tails failing as well.
Anyway, if you can come up with another $10, you can get the sport tail, complete with weighted grips. A much better deal.

The two best clone tails out there are the tarot and the HK version for the pro. The tarot is light years better. Especially the weighted grips. All the rest of them rely on the loctight holding the set screw for the tail grips to tension the grips. That plain sucks. The tarot is a direct perfect fit that you can torque down. And that perfect two bolt side plate with the great machining and finish win every time. Plus, metal gears rule on the belt. Personally I use the CNC heli metal main slider and bell on top of things and the longer shaft from HK for greater blade angles. But that is just me.

Hi everyone,
Been awhile since I was last on here.
Quick question,
would this be a good tail to get for my EXI 450?
