Haha ok I will tell you a bit more about the restrictions:
the projected area of the yacht (viewed from the side) is limited to 0.85 m^2. This is measured in an upright, zero velocity condition. This restriction is only valid for the part of the ship above the waterline. For the sails, the maximum projected surface is taken. The only material used for the hull and reinforcements is balsa wood, which may be impregnated and glued with epoxy. the mast and goose can be produced of polyester or aluminium. Ballast can be steel or lead. Appendages can be produced with steel, aluminium or polyester. We are provided with 3 servo's. Last year, a team made a submarine sailing boat. We would like to think of something that cool too! We are thinking about building a Mono-Hull with a wingsail. We have acces to a windtunnel so we could do some tests to find the best sail configuration per course. But this is not really innovative since the concept has been used in the America's Cup. But then, on the other hand, it would be cool to do some testing with a wingsail. Anyway, we are still open for other ideas! |
