yup, and there are open-source autopilots (i.e. globally-made) that'll do it (or that you can make it do it if it doesn't already.) i guess it's a "you have to make it yourself if you want it but we're not going to provide it" mentality.

Well, I busted the GPS connector on the RVOSD board off in a crash. Tried twice to solder it back on, both times it snapped right back off as soon as I tried connecting the GPS cable. The last time it took one of the solder pads with it. Guess that connector is hosed for good now. There is supposed to be a way to solder wires back on the board if your GPS connector breaks but the RVOSD forum is down right now. Stuck on the ground with a dead RVOSD, so G-D frustrated right now...

edit: After reading some posts here looks like I can send it back to RV for repair. I do recall Alex saying that the fragile GPS connector was something they fixed on the Gen 6.

RVOSD Gen5 was known to be very sensitive to vibrations. I could be an issue. Is there any improvement in the Gen 6 version?

Alex is continually revising his firmware, and I believe the G6 is more tolerant to vibes.
However you should still endeavour to minimise any vibes that you can, and ensure the device is mechanically isolated as best you can, to make the job of the stabilization platform easier.

Well if Alex is going to disable parts of RVOSD for non US customers I imagine that non US customers will not be buying his product. I was pretty keen on this setup but now not a chance. I have been over the RVOSD site and never saw that mentioned before, I would have been highly irratated to have purchased one and found out that it did not have all the features on board. If you are going to do that sort of thing it should be in bold letters so those of us not in the US are not decieved.

This is obvious. I was looking at RVOSD for my FX79, if anything is disable, it will be Eagle tree Vector or FY41AP. He'll lost "all-over-the-world" customers exept US ones. Hope that's not truth.

please ask yourselves "why would alex *choose* to handicap rvosd in this way? did he have a choice?"

Who knows? At the end of the day there really should be a big disclaimer on his website before purchasing. I as a non US customer should not be reading a feature list and purchasing a product assuming I am getting one thing when something less shows up. Especially since those of us non US customers are probably paying a premium on postage, handling, and exchange rates.

Does anyone know if the unit is disabled at the factory or if you buy a used one from someone in the US it knows by GPS it is outside the US and disables itself?

i agree with you there. i remember it being in their website product description but they've recently launched a redesigned webpage and i see no mention of it in the obvious places now (e.g. where they describe the waypoint nav autopilot mode). pity. i really hope that at least their shopping cart is smart enough to warn you.
