Cash for clunker guns

Since you lefties thought cash for clunkers was such a good idea...lets do cash for guns.

Here is how it works. The money will come from the mega rich(since the left just loves to do this anyway) Bring your gun in and get, lets say, $3000.00 per gun( just like cash for clunkers,Gov gave triple and quadruple more than for what cars were really worth) The person turning in the gun may not buy another gun in a five year period.

So we solve a few problems here..
1) Get guns off the streets
2) Pumps up the economy
3) melted down guns mean metal which is worth some bucks today.
4) Hopefully save a few lives
5) Keeps the anti gun people somewhat satisfied that gun laws are being enacted.
6) Puts money right into the hands of the consumer and not the Gooberment.
Hopefully that money will be spent.

There you have it!!

They already do that in some places.

Google for 'Gun buy-back' events near you.

It is a decent way to get rid of those old ones that quit working and aren't worth repairing....just like with the 'cash for clunkers' social assistance program.

I got a couple of basket case shotguns that rusted in the attic. I wonder how much model airplane money I could get for those?

The last one here, guys were asking if people had guns to sell...and buying them before they got in line!

In Baltimore some years ago, they did one of those, bought up guns til the city ran out of money. The following year, crime went UP.

To hear it from proponents, all of them.

In reality, only those who have unwanted guns (for instance, that do not work) to get rid of without questions asked.

Would it be a crime to manufacture dirt cheap pistols just for the $3k per pop?

I don't think it would be, but the profit would be great. Selling junk for the price of a collectors gun...

It might be a good source of income for them. If they would get 3 grand for every gun they stole, it might even cause more break-ins and burglaries. Might encourage some to take on a new source of income.

Yep. Aside from not addressing a real problem, it is more likely to have unintended consequences, than it is to bring about a desired consequence.
