Question
Satelite antennas ? ? ?

Can anyone tell me if a Spektrum satellite antenna is compatible with another brand receiver? I have a genuine Spektrum satellite antenna and the plug on it matches the receptacle on my Heads Up RD610 receiver. Are these things interchangeable. Tom

Three days and not one reply. Surely someone out there knows if Spektrum satellites can be used in other brand receivers that use Spektrum DSM2 or DSMX protocol.

Why don't you just telephone Heads Up's 800-number and ask?

Ok now I understand the question. He wants to know if an SPM Remote Rx will work as the satellite. Reading the part about how it is capable of 2500ft
when properly installed I wonder if that is with or without a Remote.
Seems to me that if your going cheap might as well use one of their remotes as well. Id be curious myself what their customer service had to say.

With Spektrum receivers, a DSMX capable remote receiver works only with a DSMX capable main receiver and a DSM2 only remote works ONLY with a DSM2 only main receiver - you can not mix them.

With "compatibles" - you are at the mercy of how "compatible" they are with the OEM equipment. As suggested above you can try the customer service of the "compatible" provider to see what they have to say.

Lol Ivan.
I couldnt resist. I gave them a call. The answer from HeadsUp was a profound "I dont know". Then something about how there could be a difference in polarity. Ummm... Ok. I guess that means flip a coin and take your chances.
He did tell me that the one they have will definitely work. It will also increase the range to more than the published 2500ft. Go figure.
I was going to ask how much farther but I figure I spent more time than is necessary already.
Probably better to go with Mercy and move on.
So there you have it. Even the retailer doesnt know.

Very reassuring! Their remote must have greater range than the main then...

Thanks aerocal for making my day!

I can tell you for sure, lemon satellites don't work with spektrum or orange main receivers and vise-versa, hell lemon and orange dont even work together. Even if they're both the same protocol e.g. DSMX they do not work with one another.

Thanks guys. I had called Heads Up and they told me "maybe". I was looking for something more definitive than that. I guess I will just order one of their satellites and keep this Spektrum one for my Spektrum receivers. Another question, why the heck don't I get notified when someone replies to this thread? That feature always worked before. I have e mail replies enabled in the setup section. Wassup with that????? Tom

Andy, when I click on that tools thing a box drops down and the 3rd item down says: Unsubscribe from this Thread. Doesn't that mean I am already subscribed? Tom

Yes, but how you are subscribed could be different than you think.

Unsub from the thread. Then subscribe again. It defaults to "no e-mail" which you can then change to another type such as digest or instant.

I use instant on the threads I want to be notified about (usually ones I created, or ones that are of interest but not very active).
