WEAVER 5" Carbon Fiber Miniquad Frame
Hello fellow pilots!
I wanted to introduce a custom miniquad frame design which I recently released on www.weaverfpv.com! We've had a lot of interest from the fpv community so I thought I would give a little bit more detail and get some feedback from you guys! The frame is a 5" miniquad inspired by the most current trends in frame gemoetry and design. Among others I take my hat off to and thank Alien frames which are now THE benchmark, the QAVs which propelled this hobby into a sport, Shendrones for unlimited design inspiration, and all other frame designers who have led progress in both design and performance! And now, the Weaver! I decided to reinterpret the plate design into uniformly perforated plates using a diamond perforation pattern. The pattern is used to reduce overall weight whilst keeping material evenly distributed, particularly in points of weakness and impact. The pattern also provides multiple fixing points for securing components. With 2mm plates and 4mm arms, the Weaver 5" is strong and rigid. The weight (carbon and aluminium hardware) is 125g. I fly my personal Weaver with weight of about 560g loaded with gopro and 1500mah 4s batts. The centralised layout uses an x-plate to secure the arms and allows the use of any PDB stack with 30.5mm hole spacing. I personally prefer Birdseye mini PDBs, included with the Weaver 5"! A lightweight stack shelf let's you protect your fc and secure your vtx on top of it, providing much needed airflow to the vtx. Oversize holes in the arms and bottom plate allow the central stack screws to be recessed into the bottom plate and arms, therefore isolating the stack from unnecessary vibration as well as protecting the stack screws which are often nylon. The camera mounting plates are designed for the popular HS1177 fpv camera case. The screws & washers provided will ensure a vibration free, and angle locked camera installation. The cam plates also give the nose of the quad (the area most prone to impacts) greater strength and structural rigidity. Mixed blue and black high tensile strength aluminium hardware....well that's just cool! grin emoticon Mounting holes for antenna pigtails on the tail, and goPro style hd cam mounting strap slots on the nose. Overall the Weaver 5" is fast, super agile, and feels absolutely rock solid in flight. I would say it is a frame most suited to acro and freestyle, but is also a really great performer in a race situation (all depends on your setup, and obviously skills!). I would love to get your constructive feedback and if you're interested in purchasing one head over to the online store at www.weaverfpv.com!
