Help!
Need Focke Wulf 190 D9 marking help

I received a freebee this past weekend and I'm need of info for paint and markings for it's completion.
The plane is minus a wing and I'll be constructing that. I have ribs being cut and plans on the way.
I found a photo of the kit box and the original builder was copying the box photo.

I can't find much info on the markings. I'd like to find this planes history for a correct paint finish.

Thanks for any help!
Bob

I don't see that scheme in my planes and pilots collection. There is very little reference to the prototype JG5 series and no FW or Dora shown with this distinctive fuselage band. I could be wrong but, there may be some artistic liberty taken here.

V53 and V54 flew 1st time in June and then July 1944 from Rechlin, armed with 4 MG 151 cannon and 2 cowling mounted 131 MGs. These were considered transitional models

Nice score.

I took a look at my 5 reference books, nothing I have comes close to the plane on the box.

If you need the instructions for the platt or pica kit send me a pm with an e-mail address.

Its a great flying plane

I tend to believe Scoot is correct on the "artistic liberty taken". I've been searching for days and find nothing but toys. The one photo references JG 54 and I find no such marking. I also found this photo at asisbiz.com. It's a good reference site but no info on the photo. There is a lot of other skins to work from.

Ken, thanks for the plan offering. Where were you a few days ago? I bought the plans and laser cut wing parts from Laser Design Services. I didn't think $54 was bad.

I didn't want to change the scheme but I need to do a real FW.

Thanks guys!
Bob

I built a Pica D9 in the late 1970s with the light grey/dark grey scheme on the box before I had the book "FW 190, Famous German Fighter", Nowarra, Harleyford.

The book shows an FWD-9 in J.G.2 with the markings for a "Major beim Stabe" with the black and white rear ribbon of the Home Defense. Camo is green upper, sky blue lower with light grey splotches, dark grey splotch on green upper wing.

On the same plate is the later TA152-C with the same camo so it seems to be more typical of late German warbirds.

If you want I can scan the plate and e-mail it to you.

Ken that's the same as the pic I posted at top. It was for a plastic model.
I also want to thank you for the instructions. They're going to be helpful, especially with my lumber list.

If any of you guys would like to post some color schemes that wouldn't require a total repaint of the fuselage, feel free.
