luckily i have a park 50m from home so i can walk the dog and take a plane . of course autumn and winter are best - too damn windy in summer . i fly a high wing own design , a bit like the ugly stik but no ailerons . having developed the design over 4 years , i have 3 wings and 2 fuselage (all the same but completely different ? ) to mix n match . people i encounter either come up and say " thats cool " or just ignore the flying . have never had any hassles . does anyone else use the park in west hamersley - aintree rd ?

I fly from several ovals in ellenbrook, have been doing so for about 4 years without any hassles from anyone, just make sure that the oval is not being used by others. Not very often these days, mostly now just fly at Yokine with the club on Sunday mornings.

Ben, we are at yokine reserve second oval in. Usually on a Sunday morning with decent weather there are about 30-40 guys turn up. It is an all electric club, and due to noise issues no EDFs or loud pushers, a few gliders and heli's down at the other end of the oval.
They are a great bunch of guys, fees are low compared to some other clubs I know of. Just wish i could fly every sunday but thats life in the bush Come down for a look see sometime.
Here's the web site for a looksee.

I Fly locally in Scarbs - usually when the parks are a bit quiet.

Had a Border collie attack my PA extra 260 this morning - i was not impressed - teeth marks through the covering and snapped a bit of balsa on the elevator

dog owner took zero responsibility - of course. (dog turds everywhere in the park) It would be nice if owners could control dogs that are off leads - but often they cant.

pretty easy fix though - could have been worse i suppose.

Its a great park - has a split level so you can look down on the plane and its shadow from the hi tier - it gives a very 3 dimensional look.

Get used to it if you're going to fly where "normal" people inhabit. I've had the same thing happen to me (many moons ago) witha balsa slopie at wanbro. The dog just put a paw about 6" off the centerline of the wing, and snapped it in twain. The bemused owner said nothing and went about her day.

Since then I don't fly if I see dogs, which has put a bit dent in my parkie flying. Come to think of it, I haven't really felt the urge to go "parking" since 2009. hmmf, go figure.

I am much the same, do pretty much all my flying down at the club these days, everyone is good for a chinwag, and the pisstaking is nonstop, makes for a great morning out! Down at the park I have found that small kids are even more trouble than dogs, the parents come over for a look and seem to think it is just fine and dandy to let junior play with the toy planes :/

For sure, nothing like the boys telling ya how you got it all wrong after you have just piled in your latest toy and done the walk of shame with the garbage bag
