Ok OK we can all relax!

I believe I have identified the solution to the OSD not displaying issue. To clarify, the manual is I believe wrong when it covers the connectivity between the FY31AP and the OSD. Either that or I am reeding it wrong, I have been known to make mistakes.

The correct connection between the OSD and FY31AP is as in this image here: FY31+OSD.

It works for me!

Thank you to all who have chipped in with advice.

I can tidy up my cabling, finish my install, balance and fly my HK Skyray now...

Hmmm not such good news here about the 31ap

Had mine for years and it was damn expensive at the time. I thought it was supposed to be the bees knees in stabs

Anyhow was wondering if anyone has come across this.
When the 31ap powers up it gives slight ele. down and very slight up left aileron with the same in down right aileron movement, but, if I switch either RTH or CIRC on beforehand (not that there is a need to) then the controls do not move.

Clues anyone?

Berkie,

Are you saying it effectively changes the trim of the plane depending on how it is switched on?

Yes, gives slight ele. down and very slight up left aileron with the same in down right aileron movement, but, if I switch either RTH or CIRC on beforehand (not that there is a need to) then the controls do not move.

Also I get no response from either RTH or CIRC once in the air, but I only mention this unless it relates to the above problem, because I don't need RTH or CIRC at the present

Are you sure you have the directions set correctly for your ailerons. ? Sorry to ask a basic question but most of time this is the cause of this type of situation.

Put the FY31 in stabilization mode and move the left wing down. That aileron should move down to correct the wing drop. Same as lift the nose up and the elevator should move down etc.

And another odd thing.
If I select RTH or Circ. when the 31ap is OFF, the elevator slowly comes up about 5mm

Time for an Eagletree I think

Stabs are great though. They expand your flying days so much when you don't have to say "too windy"

I have it mounted in a flying wing. In RC and ABM the plane flies and handles very well so I'm confident the surfaces are moving in the right direction.

The dip switches should be set:
1) off, 2)off, 3) ON, 4) off

And the Tx should be set as a normal plane with separate aileron & elevator.

Sorry if these are very basic suggestions but I cannot think of anything else that would cause that type of situation.

Nigel.

Thank you hendrnk. You are very kind. Over the next few days I will check it all out in the hangar. The wx is too bad for test flying at the moment. I'll need to see if I can fire up the GCS to see if there are settings in there to tweak. Who knows maybe it is set to RTL and circle at 0 height above the ground?!
