Hobbico Superstar EP.......................
Would this make a good first plane for the beginner?

The Superstar EP has quite a following. Mine is still stock and I've enjoyed it, finding it to be a fairly decent trainer. It will fly stock, but many, more knowledgeable than me, feel it is a bit underpowered. Here is a link to the major thread about this plane, hop-ups, etc. Click I'd suggest reading all three parts of this thread - the link is to part 3 (which has links to part 1 and 2) It is a nice stable platform that can be easily modified.

Do a search on "superstar EP"
There's SEVERAL posts asking the same thing within the last few days. I recommend it. I recommend changing the prop to reduce load on the motor. It comes with 9X5 I have gotten good results with a 8X4. I think APC 9X4E (not SF) would be best but haven't tried one yet. |
