Keith,

Can WE pick the other skipper, for team tow? Not being from the area, I would like to work with someone that I know, and, know, "what", they and their boat, are capable of. Last time, I was "assigned" a team mate, someone that I had never even met, till then. That resulted in a run, that was a waste of everyone's time. CB

Just as in the real world, Sorry, but no. That is the interesting part of the team tow is dispatch will assigning ( randomly draw) so that no one has an advantage of practicing together. It works really well most of the time and we will cover the rules at the skippers meeting. This part doesn't count to the overall winner and is just a secondary contest within the contest. It is really about communication when working together. Last years winning team had a youth skipper matched with another senior member.
One advantage here is that you can use a different boat if you want then that used in the main event ( or same one).

Looking forward to this! I'll be an observer (helping hand if needed) this year and hope to join in the fun at next year's event. This is perfect timing as I get ready to head down the home stretch on my build.
