Peter Rake Protoype - Macchi 16

Hi everybody !!!! A couple of weeks ago Peter was looking for volunteers for some of his plans.
On the largest side where the Macchi and another biplane, so we decided that this one woul be an easier one for me. Thanks Ptere for this opportunity !!!
I really love biplanes, but never could finish one.
As a novice on scale projects, I would need all the help, and any suggestions would be welcome.

Best regards,

Paul.

pd: sorry for my poor english.

Peter told that it would be a good idea to create a thread for the project. I have been studying the plan this days.
Pete: Im not sure but I have seen a couple of things that are maybe wrong. I have made a file with this questions.

Paul,
Yes, you're right on all those points. However, in my defence, because there has been a thread started on this model before, I seem to have two sets of files - the set you ended up with and a set with those alterations already drawn in. Sorry about that. I'll go through and check for other errors.I know that 1/16x3/16 issue carries over onto the top view too.
Keep raising these points, it helps me get the plans right - eventually.

Pete

Hi Paul

I still look in here once in a while and have just seen your post. I did the original prototype build on this model but didn't finish the build log as life got in the way a bit and the model was stored almost finished for a while.

Later I dug it out and completed it but didn't add any more pics to the build log. The model was flown and a nice steady flyer it was too, almost a trainer, so have no doubts that if you build it as per the plan then you'll be very pleased with it. Link to my build thread is here;

Hope it might be of some help. The model is quite straightforward to build and there's lots of room for the radio gear. Good luck with your build.

Steve

..and nice to see you and a lot of the 'old gang' are still here too, Pat. I do look in from time to time though I don't even use the internet much these days. Will be checking in on Paul's build though.

Still happily building - an own-design Sopwith Pup currently litters my kitchen table.

I have started working.
i begun with the stab and rudder.

Peter: could I make the wings removable? I have a small car, and I am not sure I can get it inside.

Best regards,

Paul.

A little more advances. The stab and elevator were light sanded and the scallops at the trailing edge were cut off. After all that the elevator will be separated from the stab.
the fin was almost finisfh, it will be sanded and the scallops cut after that.for the all the building I have been using ciano plus white glue.
Cheers,
Paul.

You're doing well Paul - we'll give you all the encouragement to get this biplane finished
By the way - your English is better than many English- speaking people here on rcgroups

Coming along nicely Paul, I always start with the tail too on a new model.

I think you might have problems making the wings removable as there's only one anchor point for the top wing centre section and that needs to be firmly fixed to keep the wings solid. You may have some clever ideas of your own though.

Also, make sure you do a good job of that hidden elevator linkage as once it's in, and the tail glued on and covered, you won't be able to get at it or the pushrod connection easily. This was the only part I found needed a bit of careful planning.
