Greetings, I have an old Enya fuel engine that I bought in the 80's but never used. I want to revive it. I soaked it in kerosene for 2 weeks but it's still frozen. I'm hesitant to take it apart. Worried that I might damage some seals or not be able to get it back together properly. Does anyone have any suggestions or is taking it apart my only recourse?

Paint thinner in carb and muffler. Work it slowly back and forth until it breaks loose.

plastic parts and some rubber o-rings and seals will not like this.

most likely the engine is frozen due to the oil that was stored in it gumming up the work. heat is your friend. stick it in the oven on about 125 or use a hair dryer or a heat gun on low and see if you can get it to move.

you may also remove the backplate and check the bearings for any rust or corrosion. if the engine sat up in storage for that long i would be surprised if the bearings arent rusted stuck.

+1 on heat. Be willing to bet it's just castor gummed up in there.

Yes! Heat did the trick. Heated it up with my heat gun and it came apart. Then cleaned all the gum out with carb and choke cleaner. Thanks so much!

I would still pull the back plate off to check that the bearing is actually spinning and not the inner race slipping on the crankshaft. This can ruin a perfectly good engine in a short time.
