so i took the gear off the 48 yak 54. I think it flies a little more cleanly. Hovers are a little easier. But i'd like to put a lighting kit on it eventually and will probably go back to the landing gear.

Keep in mind that the comparison of the '54 and '55 in my case is between two differently-sized planes (38" and 40", respectively). I love my '54 because:

1.) It's the plane I learned on. You will always love your first plane.
2.) My particular plane is slightly underpowered. It forces me to fly the plane instead of hoping I can power out.
3.) It has no vices. I don't have to remember the plane's handling quirks--I just fly

The '55 is a great plane, but mine is fully braced and has high power and counter-balanced ailerons. It is a much more advanced and capable plane than my '54 in that respect. That said, if given a set of lipos, I will reach for the '54 first every time.

great write up. I had a Y55 fusion and it was fun. But I prefer my Y54 or Juka.

Yep. The 38" was originally going to be one of my father-in-law's spare planes, but he gave it to me instead and we built it as a project (I designed the color scheme and tested it in Real Flight).

The 40" plane was gifted to me by one of his friends after he retired it. I still get a kick out of it

i absolutely love my 40 Juka. Maybe even a little more than my 48 Yak 54. The 40 size is where it's at on these, IMO.

I haven't yet tried a 38 though. How is it compared to the 40?

You dad-in-law has the 55 ready to go again Bryan. I'm not sure if it's seen the air yet, but if not it's ready for another try. I'm sure we'll try to keep it dry until you get back down here!

I liked the Yak-55 while I had it. I'm seriously considering a 55" Juka for Christmas. I'm just debating my power system. I've got a Torque 2818-900, which would really be suited for a 48" Juka. I'm thinking of running 4S on a 55" Juka with 2 2200 mah 2S in series. I've heard of guys doing that with the 55" and apparently it works OK.

i have a Yak 54 40" Wing Span from Dwfoamy, and i need help. my 1st True Build and this is brand new in box. Is there build videos for this particular foamy? or a photo step by step build? i have the Manual and i'm going to attempt to do this but just need the additional help..i may end up glueing the wrong thing 1st...lol....it's soo complicated....

It's for a Juka, but should be roughly similar. What specific details are you having trouble picturing?
