Anyone remember Tailslide UK?

Happy Hols to you!

After quite a while of forced separation from building and flying, it looks like there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully, the tunnel ends at a good slope so I can fly again!

I know there have been a lot of changes and politcs since I last logged on here. I was just curious if anyone I used to know is still here?

Here's to a windy and warm new year (WITH airplanes)!

I was wondering what had happened to you the other day. Your profile said you hadn't logged in for ages.

Welcome back.

Hmm, name rings a bell...............

Welcome back Paul

Feel free to get 60" pylon up and running again. It's in a period of hibernation at the moment I'm afraid.

Hi Paul - welcome back !

Yep, a few changes, but mostly the same - crazy fools chucking toy planes off mountains in big winds
In the UK scene - EPP60 MoM racing is dead, but F3F is busier than ever - get yourself one of Mr.Mason's Willows & join in the fun - almost enough of them out there for 1-design races.

and - for the UK there's now the BARCS forum - check it out:

Hi Guys!

I just spent another day reclaiming my workshop. It is almost 50% empty of OPS. (Other Peoples ______). Still lots to do, but any progress beats the way it has been.

It's great knowing some of the fixtures are still here. I should sit down and type the whole tale about my abcence when I have time. It might be theraputic.

There is one big hurdle now between me and getting my gear un-boxed and ready to go again. I wanted to get some advice from the old hands that have been active here for the last couple years.

My shop went away because the roof on my house packed it in. The loft (attic) was totally stuffed and it all had to go somewhere. It's a causal string going back many years. Easy to see in hindsight. Anyway.... back to today. I have collected old slope kits ever since the 80's. There are piles of them. All sealed kits. I am sick of 'em. I haved moved them from the US to the UK and then moved them twice here. I just can't bring myself to pack them all away again like another time bomb. Nothing has been damaged (yet), but none of it is getting any younger. I know now that I will never build more than a small handfull of what is there.

So my question is; where do you think is the best place to sell it off these days? Here, e;bay, own website, ?, ?, ?. There are about 175 kits dating back to '72 and forward to 2010. All are worldwide shippable. A lot of the kits came from the US cottage kitters and would only really be known there. So how would you attack it? Standing there looking at the pile (1/4 of a 2car garage) it just looks scary. However, I am not going to have a fire sale and dump it for pennies on the pound.

All input gratefully recieved!

Paul, if Droydx doesn't chime in here, send him a PM; he's made a fun side hobby of trading in (and building a good number of) older kits.

Depending on how collectable they are, you may get the best price on eBay, but the obvious place (IMHO) to have a go is here on the FS/W subforum... people scour that place constantly looking for that special something that will complete them (until the next special something anyways)

Good luck! Recommend you whip out the digital camera and start taking an inventory

You're up early Surfimp!

Yeah, they are all pretty desireable. I have done a few half hearted attemps in the past. The stuff left was more near and dear.

I have watched some of the items on e-bay go nuts before. For example, there was a short run of Jarts that were sanctioned by the Jartmiester Himself. They then had a cmposite wing upgrade a few months later. I saw one on ebay with both wing sets for for $1200. Insane.

I have been looking through FS/w here. I like the new format. It may be the most likely outlet, but a lot of the kits will be shipping to the US because that is where the majority of the buyers are living.

You are right in one thing though, until I drag the laptop and camera out there, nothing will happen at all.

Have a good one, hope you up early to go fly.

Paul,

If you want to save a little time, the NIB kits/planes shouldn't't need a photo...for those that know what they are. You might try a simple list with prices to het thinhs going.

175 kits....have you seen Chip's 'What's in your closet thread"? You may be a contender

Best of luck getting up and running/flying again,
Adam
