Dave,

Great to hear you will make back to Montague in 2015. Montague 2014 was one of the best ever and 2015 should be even better. Its nice to have a team from East coast.

I'm in for all events. I don't have a scale ship, but I'll fly something.

Regarding the electric class, all you XC teams that have heartlessly abandoned your loyal SBXCs and MXCs should consider electrifying them and flying the GPS Triangle event. The SBXC with a motor in the nose and the MXC with a power pod are great fun to fly and do quite well around the triangle. The SBXC doesn't really gain any weight with a motor and the MXC gets right to the weight limit of 7kg. It still has the wonderful MXC handling qualities and will now actually go somewhere. The SBXC moves out fairly well at 5kg but you can add another 2kg and it will get there a lot faster.

2 people can share the same plane so you can still be a team. And when it comes time to fly XC, just remove the prop blades or power pod and you have a spare XC ship. Most of you already have the RC Electronics T3000 so you will get more practice using that device as well.

Where did this 7KG limit come from?

Bob

The 7kg limit is in the rules for the new Non-Scale GPS Triangle class. See :

I'm going to try to make it.

Dean,
You might consider running some FAI/AMA legal gliders on your GPS course during the rest day. Yes they aren't going to perform like the heavier loaded gliders but the benefits are many.

1.Anyone with a legal glider that can fit telemetry on board can give the course a try.
2. Normal XC ships can now compete against each other without the need for a convertible, driver, and possibly not even a copilot.

Mike,
I hope you are able to come to Montague.
Wednesday can be used for what you described. I am not however having an organized contest that day. After last year I felt that we tried to do too much and a rest day would have been great. Many attend both contests.

Regards Dean

Montague is about 5 miles east of the town of Yreka, Ca. Yreka is on I-5 several miles south of the Oregon / California border.

No T shirts so no entry form. Just email me if you plan on attending.
FAI XC entry fee $40 per person paid at field. This includes catered BBQ Friday nite.
GPS Triangle info comes later.
