Building a quadcopter. Suggest me a frame size, motors and ESC ?

I'm about to start building a quadcopter. I don't have any experience in building quadcopters so I would like to use a frame with motors and ESCs that have been successfully used by another fan.

If you referred me to a detailed blog of someone who successfully made a good design with absolute links to hobbyking website so I can basically copy his work and assemble it.. Any suggestions ?7

P.S: I wanna build a frame by myself if possible, ESCs and motors shouldn't exceed $8-12 max for each piece.

Thank you on advance.

According to your price limit, I recommend MayTech Economical series ESCs.
Their Harrier-suprem have been approved successfully for quadcopters. Economical series have the same firmware as Harrier-Suprem. programmable frequency 8KHz/16KHz. refresh rate over 400Hz.
