Veron Wagtail for SOS 2015 - Finished!

I wasn't going to join this build off as I have other long term projects I really should be doing.
....but I thought I could just sneak in a simple one!

Veron Wagtail looks simple enough and has a few interesting features I haven't built before:
Swept wing, pod and boom, and a V tail.
It also looks rather cute.

So my modifications will be:
Scaled up by 20% from 30" to 36" span.
A little Elfin 0.36 diesel in the nose.
2 channels on the V tail.
A two piece wing and folding tail so it will slip in a small suitcase to be hidden in the trailer on camping trips.

Off to a good start Warren, looks like a fun project and not too demanding. I like the idea of it all folding up to fit in a little box!

Sorry Warren, don't know if it's been done but couldn't resist.

Ah, clearly a fellow devotee of the "I'll sort that bit out when I get to it" or "I'll think of something by then" schools of design! I'm just at that stage with the clip-on wing mounting for the Lulu, fortunately I dreamed the solution last night!

A little more progress.

I forgot to add the fact that I was sheeting the fuselage in 1/32" to my list of modifications.
I thought the reduced likelihood of poking holes with my fingers whilst starting this fiddly little diesel was worth the small weight penalty.

After a few test runs upright and side mounted I decided side mounted resulted in less critical tank level and easier starting.

I have to say however that the mounting was much more fiddly than upright would have been.

Warren:

I'm going to enjoy your build. What are you going to use for a wing airfoil?
