How to get 2d shape image to cutters????

Completly new to this side of the hobby.I see a lot mentioned about laser cutting and i would benefit from getting numerous wing ribs cut by laser than hand shaping.
I draw the componants myself on paper with pencil but have no idea how to get these onto a file format for the cutter to use.
What is this technique/system called so i can nlook it up?
Or a pointer to a how to would be cool.

Get yourself a CAD program (there are some free ones out there) draw them into CAD and we can cut direct from that file. Most cutters need a DXF or DWG file for vector cutting.

When you draw everything up in CAD, Make sure all your lines are connected and there are no double lines. you will be good to go then.

Draftsight is a good FREE 2d drafting package that you can download.

The "technique" is "Computer Aided Drawing, CAD"
You need to reproduce your drawing as a 2D file.
CAD programs can be had for free (open domain)
Some Free CAD programs:
Free - Draftsight Free CAD software - Dassault Systèmes
Free - JCad Homepage
Free - LibreCAD, 2D-CAD
Laser cutters need the files to be DXF or DWG files.
Files must fit the dimensions of the cutting tables
The Cutting vendors state their file requirements on their web sites.
In alphabetical order, some Cutting Vendors:
AK-Models - Iowa City, IA
Camden Custom Cutters - Camden, SC
FoxLite - Fairborn, OH
JTech Laser - Mesa, AZ
Manzano Lazer - Cedar Crest, NM
National Balsa - Ware MA
Specialized Balsa - Loveland, CO
