Sure I do. I've melted my fair share as well. Learned from my mistakes.

There is much discussion about that plane in the contra-motor thread in the power systems forum. Cool subject, but very challenging. How are things over on the good side of the country Walter?

Good news - I found the wing joiner in the process of getting ready for the move. It was still in the box.

Bad news - The dang gear is still out of stock. I wish someone else that sold ESM stuff would either have it in stock or at least answer my emails.

Hmmmm....I got all the way to payment and it did not say anything about them not being in stock. I wish they had a phone number. Thanks for the heads up.

So I ran into yet another roadblock with the 100cc twin motor I plan on building for an airframe I dont have yet. I emailed the manufacturer and asked if I could buy two motors direct from them and here was their reply...

Hello Scott,

Thank you for your interest in GS products, please brownse our website www.gsmodels.com for more details. Sorry we couldn't sale motors in US because we need to protect our client. However, please feel free to contact us if you interested in other items.

Best regards,

Cherry

I wonder what "protect their client" means. I am bummed because in the drawings on their website the 80-80 has a 10mm shaft which would be better than the 8mm on that HK sells. Ill probably just keep looking for a used one. I guess the fact that I cannot find a used one might be a good thing as people don't seem to wan't to get rid of them. Here is a link to the motor on the GS website.

I have seen very similar responses to that before, in the past it has meant that they have a "deal" with a supplier, and they cannot sell to customers located in the region covered by that supplier.

May be worth sending a followup email asking for clarification.

That is how I took it, and figured that HK is the supplier in my region. Luckily I have a friend in your region Greg and he is sending GS an email to see if they will sell to someone in Australia. Here hoping.

Well, I guess I am SOL. TBM does not even have the retracts on their website anymore. Looks like robart has some nice ones but they are $300, ouch.

Scatsob,

You might try Lenny Sarbin at Shindin Machine for a suitable retract at a bit lower cost. Lenny does good work at a good price and has a great reputation for backing up his product with good customer service.

You might find not being able to obtain the stock retracts for this airplane to be a blessing in disquise. The factory units have a pretty awful reputation. Retracts are one area where I try not to skimp as the low cost units generally end up being much more expensive in the long run.
